Sweeney Todd - Makeup and Hair Designer

Picture
Picture
I designed Sweeney Todd in my last semester of UCF, alongside being the a Co-Costume Designer I took on the role as the Hair and Makeup Designer. There were a total of 10 wigs for the leads, 3 for the ensemble, and 2 for the understudies. I had 4 wigs for Sweeney that got progressively bigger as his sanity unravelled; I got them custom cut and was going to custom color them to have them get darker as they grew. The wigs were ultimately not used in the final production. I also faced challenges with Lovett's Hair color, originally going for a bright true red before changing it to a warmer natural red during dress.

Original Wig; two are brown, two are black due to stock issues. Color was to be added to bridge the gap.

I wanted to really bring the ensemble alive through their facial hair and atmospheric grime. I had the male ensemble grow out their facial hair so that I could see who could use their natural facial hair versus getting fake beards for them. I individually went through and designed each one of their looks.

Shrek the Musical  - Makeup Designer

I was the makeup designer for UCF's production of Shrek the Musical; the process of casting and sculpting a custom Shrek cowl took 5 months to complete. I then led the makeup application throughout the run of the show.

Working on the show allowed me to work with prosthetics on a large scale like I had never done before.

Along with the makeup I had also created the donkey head which introduced me to the world of millinery. I was on a team with several other student who shaped and created the dragon puppet that was used.

The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui

I hair and makeup designed the UCF production of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui in early 2023. I wanted to show the physical toll that fascism has on a community by creating an increasingly drained look as the show progresses. As the world got more black and white, a trail of red blood led to Ui and his mob.
